Martin G. Goebbel, DDS

Born in Canton, Ohio, Dr. Martin Goebbel attended Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1976. He was inducted into Alpha Epsilon Delta, Ohio Delta Chapter, for his academic accomplishments.

Dr. Goebbel received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry in 1978. While at Ohio State, Dr. Goebbel was a member of Psi Omega Dental Fraternity, serving as president of Psi Chapter his senior year. He received the American Academy of Periodontology Student Award for his accomplishments in the periodontal program.

Dr. Goebbel completed a General Practice Residency at the United States Public Health Service’s hospital in San Francisco, California, in 1979. He served as a dental officer in the United States Public Health Service, Indian Health Service, from 1979 through June of 1988. During this duty tour, Dr. Goebbel was a clinical instructor in the Indian Health Service Dental Assistant Training Program and a clinical instructor in the University of New Mexico Dental Hygiene Program, as well as an infection control officer at SIPI Dental Center. He worked closely with both the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and OSHA.

Utilizing the knowledge and experience gained from these positions, Dr. Goebbel designed Southern Boulevard Dental Corporation to be a state-of-the art dental facility, which opened in July of 1988. He continues to maintain his with state-of-the art dental equipment and advanced training for himself and his staff.

Dr. Goebbel has completed a mini-residency in orofacial pain with emphasis on treating temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD). He has also completed a mini-residency in dental sleep medicine. He has completed advanced training in the use of the Fotona laser in treating sleep apnea (NightLase®), advanced periodontal disease (TwinLight™ periodontal therapy) and biostimulation to aid in healing.

Dr. Goebbel pursues interests in woodworking, computers, and state-of-the-art dental equipment. He also enjoys spending time with his daughter, AnaMaria and his grandson, Carter. He is an avid Ohio State football fan.

Kanisha

Office Manager

Kanisha started in May of 2021 and is excited to be part of such a great team. She has been a licensed dental assistant since 2014 and also has an associate degree in integrated studies of applied science from Central New Mexico Community College. As a newer team member, she has been enjoying meeting all of our long-term patients and hearing their stories.

Kanisha grew up in an Air Force family, so they moved around a lot but settled here in Rio Rancho in 2001. Now, she has a husband of 9 years and a 4-year-old son. They love to have family time, make crafts and enjoy each other.

Kristin

Front Office Administrator

Kristen started at Southern Boulevard Dental Center in September 2021. She graduated from Central New Mexico Community College and obtained her license as a certified dental assistant in 2013.

During her time with Southern Boulevard Dental, she has really enjoyed meeting all the wonderful patients. Kristen takes pride in providing the best dental experience possible and is thankful she is a part of a team that strives to do just that.

Kristen and her significant other met more than 13 years ago, and now they have two amazing children. They enjoy watching movies and playing board games as a family. Kristen also enjoys spending time with her friends, baking and singing.

Jonelle “Kitty”

Registered Dental Hygienist

Kitty is an experienced registered dental hygienist and has been with Southern Boulevard Dental Corporation since March 4, 1996. She graduated from El Paso Community College in El Paso, Texas, with an Associate of Applied Science in dental hygiene. She relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 1991 to obtain her local anesthesia license and begin her career.

Kitty’s certifications include:

  • New Mexico Board of Dental Healthcare Local Anesthesia, 1991
  • CPR/BLS, since 1991
  • Automatic External Defibrillator, 2005 to present
  • Laser Pocket Debridement and Decontamination, 2008

After more than 30 years in her profession, Kitty continues to be fueled by two factors: the relationships with our patients and her love of educating them about their oral health. She loves to demonstrate new home care regimens, treat and improve our patients’ periodontal (gum) health, and help them learn about options for restoring missing teeth and advanced techniques for improving their smiles. Her patients trust her recommendations and advice because they truly know how much she cares about them.

Our patients believe that Kitty is like a member of the family. They see her continued positive interactions and relationships with her teammates, their family members, and of course, Dr. Goebbel that she has built for more than 25 years. As a trustworthy employee, Kitty understands that loyalty, hard work and passion for her profession have served her and the practice well.

An active member of the American Dental Hygiene Association, she served as the president in 1997. She was the state president of the local High Desert Dental Hygienists’ Association in 1995. She volunteers for numerous community events such as Special Smiles, the Special Olympics New Mexico, Healthy Smiles with the New Mexico Dental Hygiene Association and New Mexico Mission of Mercy Events.

Kitty is married to her high school sweetheart, Ruben. Kitty’s daughter, Danielle, and her husband, Steve, live in the Albuquerque area with Kitty’s three grandchildren, Jacob, Nathan and Kylie.

Kathryn

Registered Dental Hygienist

Kathy has been with Southern Boulevard Dental Corporation since February 2023. She has been a dental hygienist for over 30 years and graduated from North Dakota State University in Walpeton, North Dakota, with an Associate of Science degree in dental hygiene in 1984.

She lived in the upper Midwest – Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin – for most of her life. Kathy relocated to New Mexico in 2008.

Kathy’s Certifications include:

  • CPR – basic life support since 1984
  • Local anesthesia since 2000
  • Laser pocket debridement and decontamination from 2017

Kathy is very passionate about building relationships with the people she encounters. She also has a special interest in health and wellness, and you will find that she shares this with her patients. Kathy loves to be super active, at home on her Peloton or hiking in the mountains. She is constantly on the go doing anything outdoors.

Kathy has her son, Zachary, living with her here in Rio Rancho.

Mary T.

Registered Dental Hygienist, ASDH, BSDH

Mary T. became a dental hygienist because she always enjoyed working with her hands, helping others and providing others with one-on-one attention. The field of dental hygiene has provided her with opportunities to help others improve and achieve their goals toward better health and well-being. Mary graduated from the University of New Mexico’s division of dental hygiene with an Associate of Science degree in dental hygiene and obtained her dental hygiene license in 1982. In 1983, Mary also received her Bachelor of Science degree in dental hygiene from the University of New Mexico.

She started at Southern Boulevard Dental Corporation in 1990 after seven years working in the Public Health Service dental clinics in Central New Mexico. Through the years, the evolving science of dental health and the technological advances in dentistry continue to interest her.

In 2008, Mary became certified in laser pocket debridement and decontamination. She has been a member of the High Desert Dental Hygienists’ Association, the New Mexico Dental Hygiene Association and the American Dental Hygiene Association since 1982.

Mary has been certified since 1983 as a Basic Life Support health care provider to provide CPR and since 2005 to use an AED (automated external defibrillator).

Barbara

Dental Assistant

Barbara graduated from Pima Medical Institute in 1999 as a dental assistant. She has worked in a dental office ever since. As a dental assistant, she is OSHA and CPR certified and attends continuing education courses regularly. She has recently taken training in sleep apnea treatment and CEREC same-day crowns.

Mary D.

Dental Assistant

Mary D. is a 1988 graduate of the University of New Mexico dental assistant program. She is a national Board Certified dental assistant with expanded functions and CPR certifications. Mary has been with the practice since it opened in 1988 and is a member of the American Dental Assistants Association.
